Ingredients

For the chicken

  • 4 thin-cut kosher beef cutlets (like top round)
  • 1 cup potato starch
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1½ cups matzo meal or crushed kosher crackers
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Oil for frying

For Dairy-Free Gravy

  • 2 tbsp frying oil (from the pan)
  • 2 tbsp potato starch
  • 1½ cups unsweetened coconut milk (or almond milk)
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

Chicken

  1. Set up a breading station: potato starch, beaten eggs, matzo meal mixed with garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  2. Dredge steaks in starch, dip in egg, then coat in matzo meal.
  3. Fry in 350°F oil until golden brown (3-4 minutes per side). Drain on paper towels.

Sauce

  1. In the same pan, whisk starch into reserved oil.
  2. Slowly add coconut milk
  3. whisking until smooth and thickened.
  4. Season and serve over steaks.
